orklift drivers are usually employed in industry and in retail and wholesale trade or by forwarding companies. There they work mainly in the warehouse, but also in factory halls and cold stores. Often heavy loads have to be placed precisely at great heights. The changes in the centre of gravity of the forklift truck associated with these operations very quickly put an untrained driver in critical situations.

Which persons may be employed as forklift truck drivers?

Only persons who:

are at least 18 years old,
are mentally and physically fit,
are trained theoretically and practically,
have successfully passed a driving test and
are authorised in writing by the employer to drive the forklift (in-house driving licence).

In order to obtain a certificate of competence by passing a driving test, training as a forklift truck driver is required in any case.

What is the content of training to become a forklift truck driver?

The forklift driver training is aimed at employees of companies who are to work occasionally or regularly with industrial trucks; participants should be at least 18 years old, be in good health for driving industrial trucks and have sufficient knowledge of the German language. Participants acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the safe and economic handling of industrial trucks, including theoretical and practical testing in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68 and DGUV Principle 308-001.

And what if it has to be a training course for forklift truck driver trainers?

Then you should attend this seminar; it will enable the participants to successfully train drivers of forklift trucks on the basis of the laws of physics, the accident prevention regulations and operating instructions, as well as to conduct forklift truck driver examinations in theory and practice. In addition to the necessary technical knowledge, the seminar provides the pedagogical and psychological tools for simple knowledge transfer as well as for the preparation of operating instructions and hazard analyses.
